Summer may be winding down, but the dog days aren’t over yet. When the temperatures heat up, cool down at the Marge Cline Whitewater Course in Yorkville, located less than 15 minutes from Farmington Lakes Apartments.
An Adventure for All Skill Levels
The Marge Cline Whitewater Course is located at the Bicentennial Riverfront Park on the Fox River and is an amazing spot for outdoor recreation in the Fox River Valley.
The whitewater course is an 1100 ft. long bypass chute that allows kayakers and tubers to enjoy exhilarating downstream rides around the Glen D. Palmer dam. The course encapsulates a 6ft drop from the entrance point to the exit. There are portage points between the eastern and western edges of the chute, should you need to utilize them.
For your convenience, a 12-ft wide pathway allows you to walk your canoes and kayaks back up the chute again. Be aware, however, that motorized vehicles and skateboards aren’t allowed on the pathway.
All Are Welcome
Don’t have a canoe or kayak? No problem! You can rent canoes, kayaks, rafts, or tubes from the Yak Shack. Best of all, admission to the park is free for everyone: all you need to bring is a swimsuit and your enthusiasm!
Several shelters are available for enjoying a snack or quick rest, and there is at least one restroom on the premises year-round. If you’re wondering where to park, there is ample parking at any of the area’s municipal parking lots.
All in all, the Marge Cline Whitewater Course provides a fun experience for people of all ages and abilities.
Here in Oswego, you won’t need to break the bank or purchase special equipment to enjoy everything the great outdoors has to offer.
