Did you know that the Northern Illinois Wine Trail is home to over 30 vineyards, wineries, and tasting rooms? These unique locations are situated in the Chicagoland, Fox River Valley, and Northwest Loops. If you’re in the area, we suggest heading over to the Fox River Valley Loop. The possibilities will thrill you!

Galena Cellars Winery & Vineyard

Galena Cellars is located in historic Geneva and offers wine tastings seven days a week. Guests can enjoy guided tours and savor award-winning wines such as Bunny Blush and Senor Sangria. At any rate, the vineyard is an undeniably vibrant and magical place. Guests will enjoy sipping their wines on beautiful decks that overlook the luscious countryside. In the summer, they can look forward to thrilling live performances by popular local artists. In addition to great music, visitors can also enjoy classes like Yoga In The Vines. Participants will love concluding each class with a wine tasting or a glass of Galena Cellars Mimosa.

Prairie State Winery & Vineyard

Patrons of Prairie State Winery love its unique motto: “Think Globally, Drink Locally.” Rick and Maria Mamoser established the winery as a sustainable business in 1998. Unquestionably, the two former teachers are trailblazers in the wine industry. They have amassed a faithful following by using 100% Illinois grapes that are bred to thrive in the Midwest. Additionally, their strong recycling program demonstrates their commitment to products that minimize the vineyard’s carbon footprint.

Fans of this vineyard love the focus on taste and quality. They particularly appreciate the novelty of ingredients such as ginger, key lime, elderberries, and local honey in the wines.

Waterman Winery & Vineyard

Dedicated employees bottle the wines by hand at the Waterman Winery. Each bottle is filled with unique flavors, and the wine-making process begins the day the grapes are harvested. Notably, the grape stems and other unused items return to enrich the soil for another season of crop production. Popular wines include the Barbed Wire Red, Wine Dog White, and Cherrylicious.

The Northern Illinois Wine Trail is just one of the many attractions near Farmington Lakes Apartments. So, if you’re looking for a place to call home, pick up that phone and call us. We can arrange a tour, and you can see firsthand what our community has to offer you.
