Did you know that Farmington Lakes Apartments is located just twelve minutes from a regional tourist attraction? We’re talking about Phillips Park, a 325-acre destination that’s the crown jewel of Aurora. There is much to see and do, with highlights such as:
Phillips Park Zoo
Established in 1915, the Phillips Park Zoo offers free admission year-round. It focuses on native species and provides a lively environment where visitors gain a better understanding of the animal world. The North American river otters are among the zoo’s most popular residents. Known for their charming personalities, these animals were once considered endangered in Illinois. They’re equally comfortable in lakes and on land, and their homes feature intricate tunnels leading to the water.
Phillips Park Golf Course
A local fixture since the 1920s, the Phillips Park Golf Course challenges both novices and seasoned pros alike. It remained much the same until a massive renovation brought changes to it in 1999. Today, the players have access to eighteen holes complete with USGA greens, multiple tees, and strategically placed bunkers.
The course also features a practice facility with an all-weather teeing surface for inclement weather. The cost is four dollars for 34 balls. If you’re interested, the range passes offer considerable savings.
Originally designed in the 1930s, the Sunken Garden offers stunning views throughout the year. Designer Ray Moses boasts a vast knowledge of formal gardens passed on to him by his father, a former gardener at the estates of English nobility. Take a stroll to see the prairies, Four Season statues, and colorful annuals.Back to all posts
