Summer may be wrapping up, but if you live in Oswego, the fun’s just begun. In fact, fall and winter are some of the most exciting months in this celebrated city. When the weather gets cold, it’s time to go ice-skating! Want to know which venues you should visit? Check out three of our favorite ice skating rinks in suburban Chicago.
Rocket Ice Skating Rink
The Rocket Ice arena has two full-sized skating rinks named Lake Tahoe and Lake Placid.
Feel a little wobbly on skates? Consider taking skating lessons from some of the best professionals in the industry. The venue is home to one of the largest freestyle ice skating communities in Illinois. Best of all, student skaters can skate for free at the Rockin’ Public Ice Skate sessions each week.
Want to try your hand at ice hockey? Check out the adult hockey programs at Rocket Ice to take your hockey skills to the next level.
Seven Bridges Ice Arena
Seven Bridges Ice Arena is perfect for sports training, special events, and ice skating. Its Olympic and NHL-sized rinks are the most visited skating venues in Chicagoland.
Once again, if you’re not entirely comfortable with your skating skills, consider taking lessons from the venue’s experienced instructors. You can take freestyle, figure skating, and hockey lessons here. Ice rink rentals are available when needed for practice sessions and special events.
Think your hockey skills are up to par? If so, you may like the idea of joining the Seven Bridges Adult Hockey League in order to play at the B and C League levels. If you don’t have ice skating or hockey playing skills, then the Adult Draft Rec League is your best bet. You’ll have the time of your life in a judgment-free atmosphere. Come join in the fun!
Arctic Ice Arena
Looking to fill up your calendar for those late fall or winter evenings? If so, Arctic Ice Arena is the perfect place for you.
You can take both ice hockey and skating lessons here. If a structured class isn’t for you, consider joining a Rat Hockey session. During these sessions, you just pick up your hockey stick and start playing. You’ll meet others trying to do the same thing. It’s a great way to decide if an instructor-led class is for you.
If, however, you’d like to learn in a supervised environment, consider signing up for one of the free skate classes. All free skate classes follow the United States Figure Skating Association’s curriculum. You’ll learn spins, jumps, flips, and footwork sequences.
All in all, these ice skating rinks in suburban Chicago offer plenty of fun for everyone.
